For forty years I suffered severe toe nail fungus which was a result of my tour of duty in Vietnam. I was assigned to the Army Infantry and our mission was to patrol the jungle in search of Viet Cong for extended periods of time. As you can imagine living in the jungle walking through swamps, rice patties, sleeping on the ground rain or shine I did not have the luxury of change of a clothes or clean socks which exposed us to a variety of medical problems. As a result I developed toe nail fungus which continued to worsen as the time passed. Given the condition we lived in nail fungus was a common problem. I survived the year and upon return to the States I visited the V.A. Hospital and was informed that there was nothing the Army could do for my condition. Life went on and I realized hiding my feet from view was my only option. My wife and I have children and took them to the beach and swimming pool, but I was too embarrassed to take off my shoes and swim in public.
Fortunately, I learned of Dr. Stewart, made an appointment and six months later was cured. During treatment Dr. Stewart acknowledged that my case was one of the most severe he had seen. Being freed of that 40 year curse I decided to buy my first pair of open toed sandals and when I walked out of the store I said to my wife, "This is my coming out party." With Dr.Stewart's help I feel comfortable in any situation showing off my feet. The process takes time and dedication, but it changed my life.
Thank you Dr. Stewart
